Solid American Horn Great Backup
This is a Buescher 400 tenor saxophone in gold lacquer with nickel plated keywork, serial number #730309. Currently it's not playing well, it could use an adjustment to get it in playing order; we are offering this sax in as-is condition with the option to add the necessary repair to get it playing correctly.

These horns are great for players in all walks of life looking for a powerful tenor sound reminiscent of what American institution horns were all about in the 1960s. These saxes were designed for surviving the marching field in every season and provide a beautiful spread sonic character.

There is nickel plated key work from low Bb up to palm F, front-F mechanism included. All the key touches are real mother-of-pearl, and the springs are all stainless steel. The lacquer on the body is a brilliant gold color, the bell keys are located on the left side. The neck is quite interesting, it's the underslung 'Top-Hat and Cane' style neck.

If you're considering adding the repair service please email [email protected] for a turn-around time. We will go through the horn, level necessary pads, and change out corks, felts, and pads where needed to make this play right.

To a professional player, this is a good back-up to have. You'll be impressed with the tone and intonation provided by a Buescher 400, the feel of the left pinky table-keys won't take much to get used to. If you're a doubler this is a great option too as you can pick this tenor saxophone with a restoration for a solid price. The tone is 'thicker' than modern horns, so it will cut in a different way on stage.

We will ship this horn in as-is condition unless denoted otherwise, it comes with its original underslung neck and a Selmer USA plastic box-style carrying case.
