Gorgeous 1938 Original Lacquer Alto Fully Overhaulled!
Here is a beautiful Buescher Aristocrat alto sax in gold lacquer #281474. This alto has been fully overhauled by our shop and is ready to go.
The Aristocrat was Buescher's first iteration of their proline saxophone model that would carry to their companies end in. This one is from the end of the 1930s and features an 'art-deco' style engraving, amber rollers for the pinky keys, right side bell keys, a neck stamped with the numbers 01, snap-in domed resonators, a full set of norton gold-plated screw-back needle-springs, and real mother-of-pearl key touches for the upper and lower stacks, including the front-F mechanism.
Our own repair tech Josh Creekmore has given this sax a very meticulous overhaul to ensure it plays beautifully from top to bottom with ease. All pads, felts, and corks replaced, teflon added in places to keep keywork smooth and frictionless. Fortunately this instrument didn't have any body work or resolders to address!
This sax appears to be in pristine original lacquer across 90% of its body, lacquer wear forming in common key touches, but none on the bow or body tube thankfully. All the original snaps are present, as well as the gold plated Norton spring-set. This saxophone is really well kept for its age.
The Aristocrat plays with a beautiful spread, slightly bright character that cuts and projects with ease. Jazz players love these once they get acquainted with the table key configuration. It's very much in line with how the Chu-berry key work presented itself but feels much more flat. It has a free blowing feel but holds good intonation.
This sax will ship in perfect playing condition in an original Buescher hardwood, box-style carrying case with purple plush interior and the original neck and mouthpiece. And as an added bonus, the original factory guarantee paperwork with the matching serial number in the case.
