HELP, I Want One!

Lightly Used – 42 for Tenor Sax

This is a used 42 mouthpiece for tenor saxophone in a standard 7* .105 tip opening. The previous owner of the piece spent a decent amount of time playing it but did also take great care as well. If you look closely around the outer body there is some small blemishes from past use but nothing serious. The facing profile of the table, tip and side rails is excellent.

All of the 42 mouthpieces were developed and hand finished by Dr. James Bunte. This particular 42 is an example of the earliest model that was made. These are great for the straight ahead jazz player looking for a solid foundation with lots of versatility.

These pieces play with an impressive warm sonority rich in color and overtones. The projection of the 42 is also quite exceptional due to the quality of the inner baffle and chamber. They are built with modern, reed friendly facings, medium-large chambers and a hand finished baffle for improved projection. In comparison to the Otto Link hard rubber mouthpieces the inner chamber of the 42 is just a little bit smaller to allow for improved control and sonic clarity. The hand finished baffle of the 42 is inspired by the clam shell baffle you see on the late Florida and Early Babbitt vintage Otto Link mouthpieces.
