White Lacquer – Selmer SII Tenor Sax
This is certainly a very hard to come by item. Selmer Paris Super Action 80 SII in white lacquer finish, serial number 393445. This is the first white lacquered Selmer Paris horn we have come across in the last 10 years. This particular tenor has a great look and is also an impressive player. As you look for in any Selmer this saxophone demonstrates a crisp and even response across its entire range. The Series II model is known for being much more consistent and focused when compared to a Mark VI. This particular tenor has beautiful warm sound and crystal clear projection.

The previous owner of this saxophone put quite a bit of play time on it over the years. Its body is in pretty solid condition but it does show some standard cosmetic play wear as well as traces of past repair. Looking over the sax very carefully you can see some areas where the brass underneath the white finish is showing due to general use. At some point the bell flare was corrected from a pull down, because the white lacquer is extremely fragile the work did cause the lacquer under the bell flare to split and flake. (see picture 28) The white in this area will inevitability continue to wear off as the horn receives use. This saxophone also shows history of wear along the bottom bow cap which was slightly pushed in at some point. Cosmetic wear aside this instrument does not show any history of past re-solders. All of the key guards are in good shape. This saxophone is with a non original Selmer Gold brass aftermarket neck. The neck is in good shape and has never been pulled down.

This saxophone is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a very thorough set-up. The Set-up will include a disassemble, cleaning and precise key fitting. We will replace all of the cork and felt material during this process. Once complete the saxophone will be in perfect playing condition. We are setting the saxophone up on its current set of black roo pads and seamless metal resonators. These pads are fairly new and have plenty of life left on them. In our set-up we will also remove the black set of palm risers added by the last owner.

The white SII is obviously not a common item. That being said this saxophone should be thought of as a great player first and a collectors item second. This is an exceptionally fantastic playing Series II tenor and is a great choice for the pro player who needs a versatile tenor. Take a look at the pictures and watch the video. If you have any questions please send us a product question or a message directly to zac@saxquest.com

Instrument ships in perfect playing condition in a SKB case.
