Selmer Paris – Reference 54 Alto

This is a very nice Selmer Paris Reference 54 alto saxophone manufactured in 2004, serial number 661537. The Reference 54 is made in the spirit of the Mark VI, which as release in 1954. These altos are a great option if you are looking for a similar sound and response the original Mark VI but on a modern horn. They feature very comfortable modern key work to high F#. In comparison to the Selmer SII and SIII models the Reference are much more open or “free blowing” in response. These saxophones can be pushed hard and can produce a huge sound with ample volume and power.

The last owner of the alto looks like they put a decent amount of play time on it while taking good care of it. The pictures show some light scratching and general cosmetic play wear around the horn but it has never seen any major past repair. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare are all in excellent original condition.

This sax is currently due for some much needed TLC. It is currently awaiting a thorough set-up and cleaning in our shop. The work will include a full dissemble and cleaning followed by a very precise set up. While the horn is apart we will also replace all of the needed pads, key materials as well as needed springs.

These horns are perfect for the modern jazz player looking for something they can take to virtually any gig. This one ships in perfect playing condition with a fresh set up from our shop in the original Selmer zip case.
