This is a Selmer Paris Reference 54 alto saxophone, serial number 654791. If you are looking for a really pretty Reference this alto is going to be hard to pass up. There no history of serious repair on this alto, no major body work and absolutely no re-solders. All of the key guards are in fantastic original condition. The alto does show some normal cosmetic play wear from past used but nothing too serious. It is with the original neck which is also in excellent condition and has never been pulled down.
The Reference altos are considerably more free blowing in comparison to the Series II and III models. These saxophones were intended for use by serious straight ahead jazz players. But because they are extremely flexible they are great for any professional looking for a modern horn they can take to a wide variety of gigs. This particular alto has a beautiful warm sound and is extremely balanced in response. The low register stays especially full and colorful with out ever becoming tubby or thin.
This alto came in with most all of its factory materials and pads. Since it has been some time since the sax has seen any professional TLC it is currently awaiting a professional set up in our shop. The Saxquest set-up will include a dissemble and cleaning of the entire horn followed by a precise regulation. While the sax is apart we will also replace all the needed key materials and any of the pads that are not up to our standards.
Ships in perfect playing condition with a Selmer Vanguard wood hard case and leather case cover. Pick this one up at a fantastic used price!
