Selmer Paris Reference – High F#
This is a Selmer Paris Reference 54 alto saxophone in excellent original condition, serial number 664096. The Reference 54 alto has been one of the most popular pro altos of the last 20 years. They were manufactured in tribute to the Selmer Mark VI models which were released in 1954. These models feature comfortable modern key work with pearl touch front F key and high F#. The Reference plays with a warm color with an easy free blowing response. The sonic balance of these saxophones stays full and consistent across all registers. Because of incredible response and balance the Reference is a highly versatile professional instrument.
The previous owner of this alto put plenty of play time on it while handling it with extreme care. As such it shows some modest cosmetic play wear but is physically in pristine condition with no history of repair. The body tube, bow, bell, bow cap and bell flare are all in outstanding physical condition. There has never been any dent or solder work performed on this instrument. This saxophone includes the original neck in good condition. It has never been pulled down.
This alto came into our shop playing up a storm on the original set of factory pads and nylon resonators. It was recently serviced and adjusted in a local Saint Louis shop on these pads.  As these pads are starting to reach the end of their life this saxophone is going to be due for a complete re-pad in the not too distant future. While it is in our shop we will do a service check and clean up before shipping. In order to keep the price at a premium we will be selling it on the original factory pads.
This alto ships out with an SKB hard case in excellent condition. As an added bonus it also ships with a lightly used K&M “Saxxy” in the bell saxophone stand.
