Mark VI – Sanborn Vintage
This is a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone with high F#, serial number 142782. The Mark VI altos in this serial number range are famous for their use by David Sanborn among many others. This particular alto is a superb player and was just freshly overhauled in our shop by Derick Trammel. The Saxquest professional overhaul included a complete disassemble, cleaning, precise key fitting and set up with all new key materials, premium Valentino pro pads and brown nylon resonators.

The body of the saxophone is currently sitting in solid condition from top to bottom. Its pictures tell its story the best as it has seen plenty of performances in its life. It does show a history of some past body work and was previously re-lacquered. The sax includes the original mark VI neck with small octave key saddle. It has been slightly pulled down in the past but was put back in its true position during the work in our shop. This Mark VI saxophone showcases the Mark VI side stamp on the side of the body tube as well as a high F# key. At the time this saxophone was manufactured the high F# was only available as a special order item.

This VI has great feel under the fingers and plays with a super quick response to air flow. Projection an the level of power this saxophone can be played with are exceptional. This is the kind of alto you can push hard all day long. A versatile Mark VI like this one would be good for a player needing to cover a lot of different musical settings. The brilliant character it can be played with also makes it ideal for the lead player.

While it is not the prettiest horn in the shop a player of this quality is worth its weight in gold. This alto ships out in perfect playing condition with our pro overhaul as well as a Selmer hard case from the 90's.
