This is a used Lead #7 hard rubber mouthpiece for alto saxophone, the tip opening on the piece measures .081”. These pieces were made in the spirit of the New York Meyer mouthpieces. The mouthpiece plays with a crisp response and clear sonic character. This particular piece has been played around our shop over the last several years but has never been owned or received extensive play. It does show traces of some play wear as well as a few scratches on the back of the body from ligature use.

This piece is from a limited stock and came from the same batch as our very first series of Lead mouthpieces. These pieces play with a more direct brilliance in comparison to the most current version of the piece which tends to be slightly warmer. Some of these pieces were stamped with low two digit serial numbers. This one in particular is double stamp with a 7 on each side of the body as well as a #02 serial number stamp. The “Saint Louis” lettering on the back of the shank has also been painted red.
