This is it, the real deal, the crème de la crème. This is an original lacquer, American engraved 1967 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, serial number 142100. This is a true “Sanborn” series alto, and is in stellar shape. For the serious player and collector alike, it doesn't get any better than this.

This alto looks great, with excellent coverage of its original lacquer. It shows typical “acid bleed” and light lacquer wear on keys and touch points. The sax had 2 very minor, superficial pings in the body when we received it, which we will remove, but shows absolutely no signs of major past dent work or trauma. The bell-to-body brace, bell flare, and bottom bow are all in perfect condition, and there are zero resolders on this instrument. The original neck has never been pulled down and is also in outstanding shape.

This sax came to us in good pads, but we still wanted to do it right. We are going to completely overhaul the horn, using premium firm leather pads and TM Custom screwback flat metal resonators. We'll precisely adjust the instrument top to bottom and ship it in perfect playing shape.

This Mark VI is a dynamic player, as you'd expect from a horn in this serial number range. Powerful and edgy, with a strong core that punches well, but even at max volume, it doesn't lose its center or color of tone. A world class alto for the most serious of musicians.
