HELP, I Want One!

Vintage 1959 Five Digit Mark VI Tenor
This is a vintage Selmer Paris original lacquer Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 62260. If you are looking for a powerful and fast responding Mark VI this 1959 vintage is going to be hard to pass up. The previous owner played it extensively while keeping it professionally maintained over the years. It was last professionally overhauled in another shop with red painted leather pads and waffle style metal Noyek resonators. At some point some one also added an extra support arm on top of the F key in the lower stack. This is a common add on we see from time to time on Mark VI's. It is there to give additional support to the lower stack.
These early Mark VI five digit tenors are known for playing with an impressive amount of power and are quite quick in response. This tenor is no exception. It takes the air in super fast and has a huge powerful sound. In comparison to a lot of the other early vintage Mark VI tenors we have had in the shop this one does seem to be on the brighter side. Projection on this tenor is truly tremendous. The rich and free breathing sound on this horn is mot likely attributed to the mostly raw brass finish.
This tenor shows the history of an instrument that has seen plenty of performances and play time over the years. The majority of its original lacquer is off of the horn from years of play. Its original American floral engraving still has a nice crisp look and feel to it. Because most of the lacquer is off of the horn it is difficult to tell the exact work that has been done on the horn in the past. There is a small handful of re-solders to some of the key guard feet on the lower portion of the sax. The body tube, bow and bow cap are all in great shape and do not show any signs of major past trauma. This saxophone does include the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck is in very good physical condition. Like the body most of the finish is missing from the neck.
The Mark VI is currently in the Saxquest shop being professionally set – up by our techs. It ships out in perfect playing condition with a contoured protec case.
