PF & Tenor Madness Flier Alto Saxophone in Matte Finish - Serial #00031
REPAIR TECH SPECIAL
Here is an early Tenor Madness alto saxophone in brushed matte brass finish, serial #00031. This one isn't in playing condition and needs a full overhaul, with a respring, before it will play properly; it's certainly worth it given this model's reputation.
The Flier clearly draws inspiration from the Selmer Paris Super Action 80 Serie II in design, with a modern take of course. This horn is keyed from low Bb up to high F# with a front-F mechanism to extend your range across to the altissimo register. The horn features ribbed key-work for both the upper and lower stacks. All the straight tone holes are drawn from the body.
If you're a jazz player, this is a great horn for you. Sonically, these horns have a beefy character accompanied by a slight edge with rock solid intonation. Unfortunately it barely plays, all the springs have rusted and need replacing, the pads are beyond their heyday and need to be replaced. Luckily there does not appear to be any past dent work, nor resolders, the neck is also looking great with no pulldown. If you'd like to include a Saxquest mechanical overhaul, we've added a drop-down box to do so!
This alto ships in a black hard-shell contoured case with its original neck with matching serial number.
