HELP, I Want One!

Outrageous Player! - P Mauriat 66RUL
This is a world class modern professional saxophone. P. Mauriat 66R-UL tenor saxophone in un-lacquered finish, serial number PM0209718. The 66R-UL showcases rolled tone hole construction and a raw brass finish. Rolled tone holes provide for a wider seal to the pad which yields a bigger free blowing sound. The un-lacquered format of the sax also allows for a deeper more open resonant quality.
This is particular tenor is a one of a kind experimental model that P. Mauriat built. It was intentionally manufactured with rolled tone holes on the stack and bell keys but it has straight tone holes on the palm keys. At this time we do not know if this is an innovation we will see more or in the future but at this time it is the only one out there. This saxophone was hand selected by Saxquest for our store stock. So far we have been absolutely blown away by the way it plays. It takes the air in very easy and is super free blowing. The raw brass keeps the color of the sound on the warm side but it is by no means an overly dark sound. It should be noted this sax can be played with a tremendous amount of power.
As an experimental saxophone it has received more play time and attention coming out of the factory then a normal 66R. Its key work is super fluid under the fingers and it feel a little more smooth and broken in compared to a standard 66R. As any good raw brass instrument does the body of the sax is already showing cosmetic play wear along the body. This is all very standard and is only cosmetic. Because of the cosmetic character to this sax we are also able to now offer it at a drastically reduced price.
We have spent a lot of time playing these instruments, and have come to the conclusion that you just can't get a better sax for the money. We played them side by side with many saxes in the shop, including vintage Mark VI's, and came away impressed with their projection, richness of sound, and overall character of tone. Intonation is excellent, and they play with a very warm full sound. The tenor especially has a big powerful voice and blows easily in all registers, from low Bb up through the altissimo.
The tenor is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a professional set-up. It ships out in perfect playing condition with the original contoured case and one year service warranty through our shop.
