HELP, I Want One!

Selmer Reference 54 Tenor
This is a highly exceptional Reference 54 tenor in matte finish by Selmer Paris, serial number 673661. The tenor has been professionally played and maintained over the years and is a fantastic option for the modern professional. The Selmer Reference 54 was designed in the spirit of the Selmer Mark VI, first released in 1954. These saxophones play with a robust free blowing response and a ultra rich sonic character. They are comparatively darker and more open in response compared to the modern SII and SIII.

The original owner of this saxophone put plenty of play time on it over the years while taking extremely good care of it. There is some light scratches here and there but not history of serious past repair. The only real notable wear is the acid bleed around the bow to body band. Acid bleed is the lacquer discoloration caused by moisture leeching from under the lacquer. This is very common among modern professional Selmer and is only cosmetic. The sax is with the original Selmer Reference neck which is also in outstanding physical condition. All of the original key work is present and in excellent condition as is the key pearls.

This saxophone was hand selected from the Selmer Paris factory by the original owner. It is a superb player with a world class sound. The key work is ultra fluid under the fingers and extremely comfortable with key work to high F#. This saxophone is currently awaiting a professional set-up in the Saxquest shop. The set-up will include a disassemble, cleaning and a thorough set. While the horn is apart we will put fresh cork and felt key materials as well as change out any needed pads.

This tenor ships in perfect playing condition with a professional set-up from the Saxquest shop and a non original contoured gig case.
