HELP, I Want One!

This is an early 1970s vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor sax with keywork to high F#, serial number 209406. This tenor is in gorgeous factory original silver plate, over 98% intact. Outside of cosmetic scratching (mostly on the back side of the body tube), there is little wear to speak of.

It's rare to see any Mark VI look this nice, but this one takes your breath away. There is little wear of note, even on the usual touch points. There's some surface scratching on the back of the tube and bell, but light enough that it doesn't dig through to the brass underneath. I do see signs of minor past dent work in the bottom bow area, but no last damage, and no evidence of serious past trauma. There are no resolders that I can spot, and the original neck has never been pulled down or damaged. The original neck screw has been replaced with a heavy mass version.

This sax was fully repadded not long ago, using good leather pads and oversized, seamless nickel resonators with a subtle dome. Before shipping, we'll go through the sax and make sure the pads are properly seated, replace any material not up to our standards, and optimize the action and springs up and down. When it ships, it'll feel like a new horn straight from the factory.

This tenor plays with a semi-focused and very full sound. Its resonance can be felt under your fingers, and it takes all of the air you can push through it without ever feeling like you are hitting a wall. Excellent projection in all ranges, and the altissimo pops effortlessly. Great sax for players and collectors alike. Ships in a woodshell Selmer Vanguard case.
