HELP, I Want One!

Great Original Lacquer w/ Fresh Saxquest Setup

This is a good, early vintage Martin Committee III tenor sax, serial number 153257. Known as “The Martin Tenor” because of the engraving on the bell, this is widely considered one of the best horns Martin ever made, especially the early ones like this one, dating to 1945.

This tenor looks fantastic. The original lacquer is in great shape, and the only real wear to speak of is some lacquer crazing around the bottom bow area, as seen in the photos. We see this a lot on vintage Martins, and it is purely cosmetic. Physically, the sax previously had a minor bend in the bell flare, and a very slight pull-down in the original neck (does have matching serial number). No other past damages of note.

This Martin came to us in good pads, fitted with brown plastic resonators. We are going to give it our full pro set up before it ships. We'll make sure all pads are sealing perfectly, and replace any material that isn't up to snuff. The sax has a couple tiny pings in the tube which we will also remove. It will ship out in perfect adjustment and backed by our full year mechanical warranty.

Few horns can touch a vintage Martin in terms of pure presence. This tenor speaks with a lot of power and cuts well in a loud room. Its tone is very middle-of-the-road, not too bright nor too dark, which allows the player to take it in any direction you like based on mouthpiece set up and preference. A very dynamic sax for the gigging pro player on a budget. Ships in its original hard case.
