HELP, I Want One!

This is an early 70s vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, serial number 209882. This is a true one owner horn, in good original lacquer. It has been professionally played and maintained over its life and is ready for a new owner to take it and enjoy it.

This horn shows the kind of wear that you'd expect for a sax that has been out in the real world getting played. It has minor dings and dimples, a minor past bend in the bell flare, and one resoldered joint (one foot of the low Eb keyguard), but no serious past trauma. The neck is original to the horn, and while it has more lacquer wear, it doesn't appear to have ever been pulled down.

This sax came to us on older pads, and is currently in our repair shop in line for a complete overhaul. We'll take it apart, clean it up top to bottom, and replace all pads and material. We'll use quality leather pads and original style brown nylon resonators, and set up the spring tensions and key heights back to factory specs. We'll also take out those minor dings here and there and make sure it is dent free. Before putting it in the repair line we were able to get a quick play test video of Ben playing this alto on its older pads.

This alto plays with a crisp, clear sound and has a warm focus. It takes your air quickly and easily and is overall a free blowing instrument. It offers a lot of control and plays with an easy response. Great little horn, and finding any original lacquer Mark VI for under $5k these days, especially with new pads, is becoming difficult.
