HELP, I Want One!

This is a 1940 vintage C.G. Conn 10M “Naked Lady” engraved tenor sax, serial number 291966. These early vintage 10M's are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in original lacquer like this one. It is queued in our shop for a complete overhaul, and will ship in perfect playing shape.

As you can see in the photos, this tenor has been around the block, but still has good original lacquer coverage on the bell and tube. This is no museum horn; it has been out in the real world getting played, and shows a history of dent work and repair for its life. The neck receiver at the top of the tube has been resoldered on, and there are currently a smattering of dings and dings throughout the sax. All of this will be addressed and corrected in our repair shop before shipping. The neck too shows signs of past dent repair, though it doesn't appear to have ever been pulled down or crunched. The rolled tone holes on this tenor are all in great shape.

This tenor came to us on a mismatch of pads, so to do it right, it is currently in line in our repair shop for a complete overhaul. We'll take it apart, clean it, do all the necessary dent work to straighten out the horn, and replace all pads and material, using premium firm leather pads, metal resonators, and top grade synthetic cork where appropriate. We'll make sure it plays and feels like a new horn again.

Currently playing through some leaks, I can still get a feel for the resonance and warmth this horn is capable of. This horn was produced right in the sweet spot of the 10M model and it will hold its own with anything out there. After our work, I expect nothing less than a dynamic, free blowing Conn with edge and color to spare.
