This is an original lacquer 1958 vintage Selmer Mark VI alto sax, serial number 75813, in original American style engraving. This alto is in solid shape and has never been abused. It is a great sax for the pro player looking for an earlier vintage Mark VI at a lower price.
As you can see in the photos, the original lacquer shows moderate wear for its age, but all is just honest wear from regular playing. There are no major dents or previous repairs and just 2 resolders: on the neckstrap ring as seen in the photos, and one foot of the low C keyguard. Both were done very well. The bottom bow cap has never taken a hit, the bell flare is perfect, and the bell-to-body brace is perfect round. There are currently a couple posts that are slightly pushed into the body tube, but very minor stuff. The neck is the original to the horn, with matching serial number, though a previous owner had it gold plated, a very nice bonus!
This alto came to us on older pads, fitted with brown plastic resonators. They are pretty much at end of life, and the sax is due for a repad. With our repair shop backed up for months, we've decided to list this alto at a lower price in as-is condition. It is ready to get overhauled by your favorite tech.
Once properly restored, I expect nothing less than a very warm sounding horn with a good spread, as many of these “5 digit” Selmer altos tend to do. Ships in a good vintage hard case.
