HELP, I Want One!

This is a 1961 vintage Buffet Crampon Paris Super Dynaction series tenor sax, serial number 7944. The Super Dynaction is one of the best (and most popular) models Buffet ever made, and perfectly blends the warmer sound that Buffet is known for, with a more open response and feel, lending it well to jazz as well as classical. This particular tenor is in need of an overhaul, but it is priced as such to give you plenty of room to get that work done and still come out ahead.

This tenor has spent most of its life in its case. Unfortunately for the last few years, that case was in a basement of the previous owner, and the basement got wet. The case was ruined, and as you can see in the photos, the back side of the body tube is losing its lacquer from the moisture. During the overhaul, 2 rods may need to be cut and remade: the small rods for palm D key and side C key. Both of these keys still move, albeit sluggishly. Everything else still moves freely, but obviously you'll want to take everything apart and oil it well during your overhaul.

Outside of the moisture damage to the lacquer, the horn is in solid shape. There are no signs of past dents or repairs, and the original lacquer on the “front” of the sax shows excellent coverage with little wear. The original neck is included, and has never been pulled down. If you have the patience to bring this tenor back to life, you'll end up with a solid horn that Buffet made to rival the Mark VI. Does not ship in a case, but will be bubbled wrapped securely in a large box to arrive to you safely.
