Vitnage Mark VI Tenor

This is a tremendous, all original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 100129. Dating to 1962, this tenor is just a couple hundred digits off from being a “5 digit” horn, and sonically, it shares characteristics with those fabled instruments.

This tenor is wonderful player, with a darker, almost smoky quality of tone. It offers the player the perfect amount of positive resistance to give you something to push against, which really helps the altissimo pop. While an overall warmer player, it really rips when you start pushing some air through it! Just check out the video below and see it in action.

Physically the horn is very straight. The original lacquer shows excellent coverage on the “front” of the body, with more wear shown on the keys and backside of the horn, where it may rest against the player during use. The body shows some evidence of minor past dent work, including a previous dent removed under the palm key, and another from the curve of the bottom bow, but bow guard is perfect and the horn shows no major trauma. One resoldered joint under one foot of the low C keyguard. The neck is original to the horn, with matching serial number, and it has only very slightly been pulled down in the past. This has been professionally corrected, with only very light lacquer creasing, as seen in the photos.

This tenor was repadded not long ago, using premium firm leather pads and brown nylon resonators. It is sealing up like a drum and whispers to low Bb. We'll have one of our techs look it over before shipping, just to make sure all is solid on it, but the previous work is top quality and we'll honor it with our full year mechanical warranty. It will ship in perfect regulation and ready to bring years of enjoyment.

If this had been a true 5 digit Mark VI, it'd be priced quite a bit higher. Grab this tenor for a great price before it's gone.
