HELP, I Want One!

Gold Plated Conn Chu Berry Tenor

This is a wonderful vintage C.G. Conn “Chu Berry” series tenor sax in original gold plate, serial number 172332. The serial number dates this tenor to 1926, and while the sax has been played, it has obviously never been abused. The original gold plating shows excellent coverage and and the horn features beautifully detailed portrait engraving of a naked woman wrapping herself in a shawl.

As you can see in the photos, this horn looks fantastic. There is just normal wear and tear to the horn from a lifetime of use. The sax does not have its original neck, but if anything, the new neck is an upgrade. It is an original gold plated Conn 10M neck, with the 10M funnel on the octave pip. The neck is in great shape. Rolled tone holes all look good as well. The previous owner had the sax repadded not too long ago, but the work wasn't great, so to do this horn right, we are going to completely overhaul it. We'll replace all pads and material, and give the sax a fresh pro regulation. We'll make sure it is playing as good as new when you receive it.

This tenor plays with a beautiful rich and textured tone. The gold plating adds depth and color, without sacrificing any response. It plays with a very lively and quick response. Great player's horn with looks to kill.
