This is a 1955 vintage Buescher Aristocrat 140 series alto sax, serial number 352391. This alto has been sitting for a number of years but saw good use once upon a time. Currently in our repair shop, it will come out with all new pads and material and ready to go for its next owner.

Looking at the photos, look past the dirt and grime and you can see that this alto has good bones. No major dents or signs of serious past damage or trauma. The lacquer is original, though shows a fair amount of lacquer wear. The sax has its original neck, as well as all of its original gold plated Norton springs, amber rollers, and its original snap-in metal resonators, which we'll retain and use with the new pads during our overhaul.

I expect great things from this alto once the repad is complete. It's basically a Buescher Big B in all but engraving (same body tube and keywork), and these old Bueshers are a lot of bang for your buck. They have a very rich resonance that you can feel under your fingers and keep a warm tone throughout its registers. Great for everything from concert band to jazz/funk and everything in between, for a very reasonable price.
