1923 Vintage C.G. Conn New Wonder series “C Melody” saxophone, serial number 118694. This horn has been sitting for decades and is in current need of a repad. With our shop backed up for months, we've decided to sell it “as is” at a super-low price, giving the buyer plenty of room to pay to get it properly restored.

The C Melody was a popular sax in the 20's, for its ability to read right off the piano book without transposing. It is just a bit shorter than your standard Bb tenor sax, but all the keywork is the same. This example is in excellent nickel plate, which shows little wear and is a solid 99% intact. The sax shows a handful of very tiny pings in the bottom bow area, but no serious dents, previous damages, or repairs. The original “alto style” neck has never been pulled down and has the microtuner mechanism. The tuner is a bit sluggish but turns freely. Rolled hones are also in good shape on the horn.

If you've wanted to pick up a C Melody for tooling around on, and especially if you have a repair bench at home and want to give it a go to repad this beauty, you'll be way ahead of the game with this old Conn. Conn really did make the best C Melody horns as compared to the other saxes of its era, and this sax should be brought back to life and properly played. Ships in its original case, which shows wear but still works.
