This is a sweet original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VII series alto sax, serial number 294972. Serial number dates this horn to 1979, right near the end of the run for the Mark 7. This alto has never been abused and is in fantastic shape. It is due to receive a fresh overhaul from our repair shop, and will ship in perfect playing shape.

The original lacquer on this Selmer Paris stands at 85-90% intact. There is wear mostly on the keys, and some scratching on the back side of the bell. Absolutely no major dents, and just one tiny past surface dimple on the bottom bow near the cap. No resolders or previous repairs. The original neck shows light lacquer wear but has never been pulled down or damaged.

This alto came to us on mostly original factory pads, which are obviously 40+ years old at this point. We're going to complete our full pro overhaul, replacing all pads and material. It will get a thorough cleaning, and we'll adjust spring tensions and key heights back to factory specs. We'll make sure the horn is playing as good as the day it left the factory, and all work is included in the price.

Currently playing through some leaks, this alto still retains a warm and centered sound, offering excellent control and a strong core. Its tone stays even from the lower register up into the palm keys, and doesn't get blatty or lose focus as you climb the octave. Great sax for pro players looking for a Selmer Paris on a budget. Ships in a Selmer Vanguard series tripac case, with slots for flute and clarinet.
