Store Information
This is as pretty of a 6M as you will find! It's 1942 vintage Conn “naked lady” engraved 6M with the VIII stamping, serial number 305062. This horn has spent almost the entirety of its life hanging out in its own case. The original lacquer is as close to flawless as you'll see, and it will ship with a fresh overhaul from our repair shop.
I've been doing this a long time, so it is rare that I open a case and say, “Wow!” But that's what this sax did for me. While there are a few light cosmetic scratches in the lacquer and a couple tiny pencil-point pings here and there, the sax looks like new, with no major lacquer wear to speak of. Rolled tone holes all in great shape, and the original neck (with double socket receiver, underslung octave key, and matching VIII stamp) has never been damaged. The microtuner on the neck spins freely.
As further proof that the sax just hasn't been played very much, it still had all original pads when we got it. Being 80 years old, the pads were obviously no good anymore, and the sax is currently in our repair shop in line for a fresh overhaul. We'll replace all pads and material, using premium firm leather pads and seamless, oversized nickel domed resonators. With our pro set up in the end, it will be in perfect playing shape and good to go for a long time to come.
If you've been on the hunt for a “new old stock” 6M, you'd be hard pressed to find one nicer than this. It ships in its original case, which, unfortunately it pretty musty smelling. We'll do our best to clean/air it out, but not sure you'll want to use it on a regular basis. We're keeping it with the horn because of how nice the total package is.
