HELP, I Want One!

Gorgeous Original Lacquer – Mark VI Alto
This is a beautiful original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone, serial number 205549. Easily one of the prettiest examples of an original lacquer Selmer we have had in the shop in quite some time. This saxophone looks like it has spent the vast majority of its life in the case. There are a few spots on the horn that show some light cosmetic blemishes, a few scratches here and there but nothing major. There is absolutely no history of any repair on this sax. No dent work and no re-solders. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare are all in exceptional original condition. The original neck with the saxophone is also in perfect physical condition.

The alto came into our shop on all of the original factory pads, nylon resonators as well as all of the original corks and green felts. It even has the original cross cut neck cork on the neck. The pads on it are from the 1972 they are all well past their prime of use for anyone planning on doing serious playing on it. As such it is currently awaiting a professional overhaul in the Saxquest shop. The Saxquest overhaul will include a dissemble, cleaning, key fitting and a precise regulation of the saxophone. Once complete it will be in perfect playing condition on a new set of Valentino pro pads, brown nylon resonators, new corks and new felts.

These late vintage Mark VI altos tend to be more focused and controlled in response then the earlier models from the late 50's and 60's. We spent some time play testing it on the older pads before putting it in line for the overhaul. This particular Mark VI is nice and free blowing while the warm sonic character stays nice and precise. The amazing flexibility makes it an ideal choice for the modern professional alto player looking for an instrument they can use in a wide variety of musical settings. It should also be noted because the saxophone was not played very much by the previous owner all of the key work and key pearls still feel fresh and are not at all worn. Ben Reece was able to do a quick play test of the video on its original pads before we put it in the shop.

This saxophone ships in perfect playing condition with the origianl Selmer wood hard case. Please check out the video and the pictures. If you have any questions please send us in a product question or feel free to contact us by phone.
