P. Mauriat 66RRCL Tenor Sax - Includes Saxquest Pro - Set Up
This is a very pretty P. Mauriat 66RCL tenor saxophone in dark “Cognac” lacquer, serial PM0702413. The previous owner of the tenor put some play time on it while taking very good care of it. There is some honest play wear around the thumb rest, a few light scratches here and there and a small ding on the bell flare. The tenor has never seen any major dent work and has received zero re-solders. Its body tube, bow, bow cap and bell are all in terrific original condition. The original Super VI neck is also in pristine physical condition.

The 66RCL is the perfect saxophone when you are looking for a classic American vintage sound on a modern saxophone. It features comfortable ergonomic key work from low Bb to high F#.  The rolled tone holes provide a wider surface area for the pad to seal against. The dark smokey finish on the horn is very reminiscent of the early original lacquer Selmer Mark VI models from the late 1950's.

Saxquest has spent a lot of time playing these instruments, and have come to the conclusion that you just can't get a better sax for the money. We played them side by side with many saxes in the shop, including vintage Mark VI's, and came away impressed with their projection, richness of sound, and overall character of tone. Intonation is excellent, and they play with a very warm full sound. The tenor especially has a big powerful voice and blows easily in all registers, from low Bb up through the altissimo.

This particular tenor is currently being set-up in the Saxquest shop and ships in perfect playing condition. It is shipping in a Tenor Madness contoured case.
