HELP, I Want One!

Here’s a nice original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, serial number 117645. This 1964 vintage, American engraved VI is in fantastic shape, and is a great find for the player looking for a quality vintage VI which hasn’t been beat around.

This alto shows typical cosmetic lacquer for a horn that has been played but never abused. There are no signs of major past dent work and amazingly, no resoldered joints. The original neck shows the matching serial number, and it has never been pulled down. The lacquer color throughout has the rich amber patina that you only see on original lacquer Mark VI’s of this era.

This alto was repadded a few years ago, but not played much since, and all pads are still in like-new condition. The pad work is top notch, featuring firm leather pads and machined, oversized flat disc screw back metal resonators. The pads show no wear on them. Before shipping, we’ll complete a fresh cleaning and pro set up on the horn, replacing all material, reseating pads as needed, and optimizing key heights and spring tensions throughout. It’ll ship playing like a brand new horn.

This Mark VI plays with a sweet, darker tone, without sacrificing resonance and power. It takes your air well and has strong depth and a powerful core. It can really rip with you push it! A lot of Mark VI’s out there have been banged around, but this one is straight top to bottom and will hold up for years to come. Ships in a Selmer Paris Flight series case.
