HELP, I Want One!

This is a 1968 vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 154093. This is a fantastic deal for anyone looking for a Mark VI on a budget. It isn't the prettiest horn around, but it is a solid workhorse player and pads are all in excellent shape as well. It'll be a dependable horn for you for a long time to come.

From the looks of it, this tenor is an old relacquer, and even much of the “newer” lacquer has worn off with time. The American engraving pattern is still clearly visible, though it is fainter in spots. No qualms about, this tenor has been around the block, and has some history of dings, dimples, and some resolder work, but it still has plenty to offer. The neck is original, with the true lower octave key saddle seen in this vintage of Mark VI. It has a couple previous repairs of its own, with patches on both sides as seen in the photos. This horn was used by a gigging musician and as such pads were kept in good shape, in fact many in the upper stack are new. All are fitted with original style brown plastic resonators.

This tenor is actually sealing very well on the pads, but the keywork and action left a little be desired, so it is currently in our repair shop in line for a fresh tune up. We'll replace all key adjustment corks and felts, even out the spring tensions and key heights throughout, and get it back to where it should be. The sax will leave our shop in perfect adjustment and ready for its new lease on life.

If you've been on the hunt for a 60's vintage Mark VI but can't deal for $7000+, this is a great opportunity to pick up a tenor with newer pads and a fresh pro adjustment, ready for any gig you want to take it to.
