Leblanc Low C Professional Bass Clarinet
This is a Leblanc Paris Model 330 bass clarinet from the 1960s, serial number 17185. The bass is constructed with grenadilla wood and sliver plated keys down to low C. During the 1950s to the 1990s bass clarinets went through a lot of changes in Buffet, Leblanc, and Selmer, so it's important to note each instrument's features. This one has for the following features:
  • Two-piece body construction
  • Chromatic key-work down to low C
  • Plateaued keys
  • Left and right-hand options for low D
  • Right-hand thumb keys for Db and C
  • A trill option in the right hand for G#/D# by lifting the middle finger
  • Standard low Eb key for the right hand
Sonically, this bass clarinet plays with a big edgy tone in the lower chalemeau register, switches to a powerful pure singing tone in the clarion and continues to project up to the altissimo. The whole horn has a free blowing feel that you can really lean into if you ever need more volume.
The bass clarinet is currently sitting in solid condition. It does show the history of plenty of use. There has been a series of past pin repairs in the upper joint to address a crack.( please see pictures) The work was done professionally. This instrument was serviced in our shop last year and is still in fabulous playing condition. We will also go thorough the bass once more before shipping to ensure it leave our shop in perfect playing condition.
Ships out in perfect playing condition with the original wood hard case and floor peg.
