HELP, I Want One!

This is a fantastic late 60s vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 169359. This horn has been out in the real world gigging, and has a few bumps and bruises, but it has been well maintained and will get a fresh pro adjustment from the Saxquest repair shop before shipping.

This horn relacquered long ago, but is about the best job you'll ever see. As you can see in the photos, the engraving remains crisp and defined, with absolutely zero signs of buffing, even at the edging (which is hard to do!). The patina of the lacquer also has a nice aged look to it. The current lacquer shows minor wear from playing, and some history of previous dent work here and there, but overall it is in tremendous shape. The neck is original to the horn, and it too has some previous minor repairs, but it is solid. The sax has an added bonus of a weight neck screw, as seen in the pictures.

As all professional musicians tend to do, pads have been replaced as needed, but most look to be just a couple years old, fitted with original style brown plastic resonators. We are going to go through the horn and replace any pads that aren't up to our standards, as well as all of the key adjustment corks and felts. After our adjustment, the horn will feel and play like a new horn again.

I found this tenor to be very easy blowing without a lot of resistance. It took my air very quickly. Overall, I think it is maybe a hair brighter on the “tonal color” spectrum, but I wouldn't call it an overly bright instrument. Solid tenor and a fun horn to play!
