HELP, I Want One!

This is an outstanding 1956 vintage Martin Committee III tenor sax, serial number 198960. Often called a “The Martin Tenor” for the engraving on the bell, this was the most popular horn Martin made over its illustrious history, and remains a stalwart in the jazz and rock scene today.

This tenor is probably the best factory relac you'll ever see. It'd pass as original by most people out there, and almost got by me too! There's just 2 spots in the engraving that are lighter than they should be, signs of minor past buffing, and a few spots where you can see some minor pitting or scratching under the lacquer. Obviously done extremely well. The engraving is crisp and defined, and the horn is excellent physical condition. The only resolder joint is on the thumbrest (as seen in the photos), and the neck has never been pulled down. The neck is original, with matching serial number.

This tenor was recently overhauled in another shop, and ships in all new pads with seamless metal resonators. We will go over it before shipping just to make sure all the pads are sealing properly, but otherwise, it is ready to go! This horn plays with a big voice and excellent response. It keeps a warmer color overall but still hits hard. A whole lot of sax for the money! Ships in its original hard case.
