This is a good vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, excellent for the player not wanting to break the bank. Dating to 1971, this tenor looks great and will ship with a fresh overhaul from our repair shop. It will be ready to go for you for the long haul.

This Mark VI is a former military horn, whose had the horn in their collection for a long time (someone there etched the band named just above the serial number, as seen in the photos). It was relacquered long ago, and done well, with a good vintage patina to the lacquer color. The sax was more recently re-engraved in the original American style. Being relacquered, it is hard to spot previous repairs, but the only noticeable work is a resoldered low Eb keyguard. I see no history of past trauma to the tube, bell, or bottom bow. The original neck was slightly pulled down in the past but professionally brought back up to proper position. It currently has one tiny ding in the side, which we'll remove during our overhaul.

Pads were starting to get up there in years when we received the horn, so it is currently in our repair shop in line for a complete restoration. We'll take it apart, clean it inside and out, and replace all pads and material, using original style brown nylon resonators. We'll also optimize key heights and spring tensions throughout, so it will feel like a new horn again when you receive it. If you've been on the hunt for a solid Mark VI tenor but balk at the $8000+ prices out there, you can't go wrong with this sax. Our overhaul will have it playing to the heights of its ability, and it will serve you for a long time to come. Ships in a BAM softpack case.
