This is a beautiful original lacquer Martin Committee tenor sax, serial number 195567. This tenor looks incredible, completely original and in fine shape.

The photos don't do this tenor justice. It looks fantastic, with 90-95% original lacquer intact. There is some minor lacquer fracturing around the bottom bow area, where the lacquer is “crinkling” as you sometimes see on these vintage Martins, but that's the worst of it. There are no major dents or previous damages, and no previous repairs. The original neck has the matching serial number, and it has never been pulled down or damaged.

This tenor came to us in all original pads. As such it is currently in our repair shop in line for a complete restoration. We'll take it apart and clean it, replacing all pads and material, and adjust the action throughout. We'll take out a couple minor pings in the bottom bow, and make sure the sax is perfect top to bottom. It will ship out playing better than the day it left the factory in 1955.

“The Martin” horns are one of the best kept secrets for pro players looking for a great sax on a budget. They are often effortless players and are sort of a blend of the free-blowing, open feel of a Conn, and the warm focus of a Selmer. Very middle of the road, which makes for a lot of versatility available to the player. You can take this horn in any direction you like, depending on your mouthpiece and setup. Ships with original case, also in great shape.
