HELP, I Want One!

Fantastic Player!!

This is an exquisite vintage Selmer Balanced Action tenor sax, serial number 34876. This tenor has just been completely restored in the Saxquest repair shop and is ready to go.

This tenor is in fantastic shape. There are no major previous repairs or trauma. The sax shows some minor past dent work in the bottom bow, but that's about it. The alternate F# and low C keyguards have been resoldered, but I see no other past repairs. The bell flare and bell-to-body brace are perfect. This sax was relacquered decades ago at the factory, and done extremely well. All of the original engraving is still crisp and defined, showing no signs of buffing during the process. The sax does not have its original neck, but does have a great early vintage Selmer Mark VI neck (no serial, with low octave key saddle).

We received this tenor on old pads, so we did it up right. Saxquest's George Bunk did the work, replace all pads with premium firm leather Valentino Pro's, fitted with oversized slightly domed seamless metal resonators. All key adjustment corks and felts have also been replaced, using the best synthetic material for a quiet, positive feel. The action is crisp under your fingers, playing this sax is like stepping back in time to 1947 and picking up for the first time at the showroom.

This Balanced Action plays with a very rich tone with a whole lot of color. It takes your air very well, and plays with excellent projection without a lot of effort. Very free blowing and resonant instrument. This tenor seems to have the quintessential sound and response of the Selmer BA.
