HELP, I Want One!

Freshly restored 1935 vintage Conn 26M Connqueror series alto sax, serial number 270570. This alto was just overhauled in our shop by Aaron Standing and looks fantastic, with very good original lacquer coverage. Best of all, it is has never been beat around and is in tremendous physical condition.

This is one of the very early 26M's, from the first year of production of this model, and actually features the “Connqueror” name on the bell, which Conn later dropped. This series was arguably the best sax Conn ever made, and is certainly one of the most desirable. It features an improved table mechanism, swivel thumbrest, sterling silver key touches on nearly all of the touch points, and a double socket neck with underslung octave key and microtuner. The microtuner spins freely and is in great shape. On the body of the sax, the bottom bow guard and bell flare are perfect, with no past damage. There's some very minor past dent work on the inner curve of the bow around the low Eb keyguard, which has been resoldered. That's the only previous repair that I can spot on this alto.

This alto features all new premium firm leather pads matched with oversized, seamless metal resonators. All key adjustment corks and felts have been replaced, and the action has been optimized. All spring tensions and key heights have been precisely set to factory specs.

This horn plays like a dream. Big, bold sound that stays warm and fat in all registers, and very free blowing even at a whisper down to low Bb. Outstanding example of one of the best vintage Conn altos you can find, and in a condition that you don't often see.
