This is an early 70s vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 211442. This is a great horn for the gigging professional who doesn't want to break the bank on a “pretty” Mark VI that will just get a beer dropped on it in a bar. This tenor has been around the block, but remains in very good physical condition, and will get a fresh overhaul from our repair shop before shipping. It will ship out in perfect regulation, backed with our full year warranty.

This tenor was relacquered long ago, as seen in the photos, and shows normal wear to the “newer” lacquer from honest use. While there's some minor corrosion currently to the keys, we're going to clean all that up as part of our overhaul process, and it will look a lot cleaner when you get it. The sax amazingly shows no signs of any serious past dent work or trauma. The bell flare and bottom bow are in great shape, and the original neck has never been bent or damaged.

Like most busy musicians, this horn has been kept up with pads replaced as needed, and was ready for a complete job when we received it. We're going to do it right, with a fresh set of premium Valentino Pro pads and original style brown nylon resonators. We'll clean the horn inside and out, check tone holes for level, adjust/tighten all keywork, and optimize key heights and spring tensions throughout. We'll get it so that it feels like a new horn again, playing better than the day it left the factory.

This tenor plays with a strong focus and clear attack, with a quick response to your air. I found it to be a very centered and controlled horn, but you can push it too and it doesn't feel like it is holding you back. It's a solid all-around horn that you can take to a variety of gigs. Ships in its original hard case with a true Selmer Paris leather case cover.
