HELP, I Want One!

Sweet 1962 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax in original silver plate, serial number 100885. This alto shows very little finish wear despite its age, with a solid 98-99% original silver plating intact. It has a recent pad job and is a great alto for players looking for an early 60's vintage VI in great shape.

The silver plating on this alto is in tremendous shape, with only very minor finish wear here and there from light use. There's one past repair, as seen in the photos. As some point the horn took a solid whack right on the bottom bow guard. To repair it, the guard was removed and the the dent removed from the curve of the bottom bow. The guard was then resoldered back on (one foot of the nearby low C keyguard also resoldered). Because the bow guard is hollow, it is still pushed in, but the work is as good as you'll find otherwise. The original neck has never been pulled down, and there are no other repairs to the horn.

This alto was recently repadded, using firm leather pads and original style brown nylon resonators. All are sealing well. The sax will get a fresh check-up in our shop before shipping, where we'll do some silver clean up and make sure everything is optimal.

This Mark VI plays with a clear, concise attack and strong core, with good projection and presence. The silver seems to add color and character over its lacquered cousin, and the sax really responds well. The action is fluid and effortless under your fingers, and everything feels crisp; just like a new horn. Wonderful Mark VI with looks to kill.
