Original Silver Plate Handcraft Typewriter 1930
This is a gorgeous original silver plated Martin Handcraft “Typewriter” alto saxophone, serial number 96482. Martin's Typewriter model is named for the sets of pearl buttons on all of the key touches. The unique design is striking but it was only in production for a few years making it a fairly rare item. This one is in tremendous condition and was recently restored in the shop of Scott Reed. It now features a brand new set of leather pads with metal resonators as well as all new corks and felts. As a player the Martin Typewriter has a colorful and sweet voice to the way it plays. Like all of the early handcraft models it is a very free blowing item and can be played with a ton of air if desired.

The body of the alto is in tremendous original condition showing off the beautiful original matte and burnished silver plate. The gold wash around the bell flare is also in excellent condition.  It shows no history of major dent or solder work. All of the original keys, guards and beveled tone holes are present and in excellent original condition. If you look very closely there is a small number of super small and hard to see pings around the lower bell and bow and a spot cosmetic finish wear near the neck receiver from a previous marchig lyre mount. This Martin does include both the original neck and the original case. The neck is in excellent condition and has never been pulled down. It does showcase the matching serial number stamp.

This is a beautiful example of a Martin Typewriter done up in tip top playing condition. Do not miss out on this classic American beauty.
