Gorgeous original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone, serial number 116794. This American engraved VI dates to 1964, but you'd never know it by its looks. This tenor looks stunning, and will ship with a fresh overhaul from the Saxquest repair shop.

The pictures don't do this horn justice. As soon as you see the case (original, also in stellar shape), you know you're in for something special. The original lacquer on this tenor is 95% intact, with only minimal specklish types of wear here and there. Even better, the horn hasn't been beat around. There are no major dents or dings. The bell flare is perfect, as is the bell-to-body brace and bottom bow curve. There's a couple tiny pencil-point dings around the bottom of the horn, but we'll try to clean those up as carefully as possible during our overhaul, so as to not hurt the lacquer. There's just one resoldered joint, on one foot of the low C keyguard, as seen in the photos. The neck is original to the horn, with matching serial number, and unfortunately it has been previously pulled down, but does show the correct curve now, and the metal is still strong.

The previous owner had a few pads replaced in the upper stack a few years ago, to get the horn playing again, but when it came to us, it still had a lot of original pads throughout. As such, we're going to give this tenor our full preferential treatment. All new pads and material, with oversized seamless, slightly domed nickel resonators. Once completed, this sax will play and feel like the day it left the factory in 1964.

Currently playing through some leaks, I can still get a sense for the power and presence this tenor is capable of. It has a warm and slightly centered sound, offering excellent control. I can't wait to play it once our work is complete! This is a tremendous horn for players and collectors alike.
