Absolutely stunning original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI bari sax, serial number 134435. This horn dates to 1966, but it has obviously spent most of the last 65 years sitting unplayed. It is in tremendous shape, and has recently been restored in the Saxquest repair shop by top bari tech Josh Creekmore.

This horn is a sight to see. The original lacquer is 90-95% intact, with just a couple spots of worn lacquer as seen in the photos. One is on the body tube, and anoother on the bell-to-body brace plate on the back of the bell. Very light wear obviously on a few touch points. That's about it, very little wear otherwise. There's been some minor dent work in curve of the bottom bow, but done so well that you won't see it unless you really go looking. The upper curve is perfect. I see no other previous repairs, and that includes no resoldered joints. The original neck has never been damaged or pulled down. Really premium condition for a Mark VI bari of any era, much less a mid-60's model.

Josh overhauled this instrument with nothing but the best: premium firm leather pads and sterling silver (yes, sterling silver!) Resotech oversized flat metal resonators. All new material throughout, and the horn has been set up to feel just it did from the factory, with a medium spring tension and medium-to-medium open key heights. It feels like a brand new horn under your fingers, with a crisp action and buttery touch.

Looks are great, but it has the sound to match too. Big and bold without being too bright, it has a great warm core that really fills up a room. Very good response even down in the bell, and that fatness stays as you climb into the palm keys and altissimo. Fantastic all-around bari. I love the resonance you get on a low Bb Mark VI, and this horn definitely has that, and it is so much lighter than a low A too. Tremendous horn. Ships in a protective hardshell SKB contoured bullet case.
