Gorgeous Engraving FREEBLOWING
This is a King Zephyr Series I tenor in great from 1935 with a serial number of #179211. These Zephyr models are well known for being a free blowing workhorse of the gigging musicians for almost a century. The key work is fluid and the side and table keys are all squared off, silver plated, with amber rollers. King has provided real mother-of-pearl key touches for both lower and upper stacks, including the front F mechanism. This tenor is keyed from low Bb to palm F and features an alternate G# trill.

Sonically, this tenor plays with a powerful, free blowing, full tone. Even on old pads and materials, this tenor plays with ease down to low Bb. The low end is huge, and the upper range can reach enormous volumes. These vintage American tenors really have a unique voice that has yet to be replicated by modern manufacturers. If you are looking for a killing horn for straight ahead, trad, funk, or rock; this horn is a great all around option.

This horn came into the shop on a working set of pads but is in need of an overhaul as the materials are old and will begin to fail with use. This horn ships out as-is in a Pro-tec International box case for tenor. Please email mike@saxquest.com for general questions on this horn or repair costs.
