HELP, I Want One!

This is a very nice condition Selmer Paris Super Action 80 tenor saxophone, serial number 371326. This first series SA80 dates to 1985, and is in remarkable condition for a horn that is 35 years old. It has been well cared for and properly maintained, and looks (and plays!) fantastic.

As you can see in the photos, this tenor shows only mild wear to the lacquer, mostly scratching on the backside of the tube and bell. It has a few minor chair pings here and there, but no serious past dents or trauma. The bottom bow cap is perfect, as is the bell-to-body brace, and the bell rim has never been bent. The tube is straight, and the original neck has never been pulled down. All in all, just incredible condition.

Pads are still soft, fitted with original style Selmer metal resonators, and they have years of life left in them. This sax will get a fresh set up from our repair shop before shipping. Our set up will entail full disassembly and cleaning/sanitizing, and all new key adjustment corks and felts. We'll replace any pads that are starting to show some wear, and regulate the stacks and spring tensions for optimal feel and response.

The original Super Action 80 is a great tenor for players who find themselves in a wide variety of settings. This tenor plays with a crisp, clean sound, and while it does have a strong focus, it isn't as dark as a Series II. It definitely plays very open and lively, and you can push it hard without sacrificing its core tone. A great all-around tenor, and a solid option for players looking for a Selmer Paris without breaking the bank.
