Selmer Paris – 1958
This is a fantastic players horn, vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor from 1958, serial number 77054. A warm and vibrant player. It takes the air in quick and smooth while producing a robust and very clear sonic character. These early Mark VI's are known for having a big sound and being able to take in a ton of air, this one in particular is no exception and is a fantastic instrument in its own right.

Like many of the best playing saxophones out there this one does show signs of having received a healthy amount of play time in the past. As it sits now it is in very solid condition regarding the body tube, bow and bell. The bow cap is also in fantastic condition and has never been pushed in. All of the original key work and guards are present as well. This saxophone is with the original Mark VI neck. The neck shows similar cosmetic condition to the rest of the instrument.

At some point, most likely a very long time ago this saxophone was re-finished. All of the key work remains in good condition as well as the engraving and stamping on the bell and band. The current finish shows a rather unique style of wear that is sometimes called lacquer “crazing”. This is more commonly seen on the finish of wood instruments.  While this is not seen commonly on saxophones and brass instruments it is also not entirely unusual. Much like acid bleed, lacquer crazing is cosmetic and does not have an impact on the way the saxophone plays.

This tenor came in with a nice set of leather pads and metal domed resonators. The pads are all in outstanding condition and have a ton of life left in them. In order to quiet down the key work and put it into prefect playing condition it is currently in line to be professionally set up in our shop. The pro set up will include a dissemble and cleaning followed by precise regulation of the key work. While the horn is apart we will replace any needed key materials.

The tenor ships out in perfect playing condition with a fresh set up from our shop and a later vintage Selmer wood hard case.
