HELP, I Want One!

This is a dead mint condition Selmer Paris Super Action 80 (first series) alto sax, serial number 325501. This horn shows just a handful of light scratches here and there, but looks much like the day it left the factory in 1981. It is just about the cleanest older Selmer you'll ever find.

The pictures tell the tale on this beauty. The original lacquer is 99.9% with no major wear of note. There's some tiny scratches inside the bell, on the backside of the bell, and down on the bottom bow, but nothing that you can see from just a couple feet away. No dents/dings/resolders anywhere. Everything is perfect. Honestly, it looks like the sax was played a handful of times when new, and then stored away. Even the original case is just about perfect, with only minor “shelf wear.”

This horn came to us on very old pads, and is currently in our repair shop in line for a full, fresh overhaul. We'll replace all pads and material (buyer's choice of brown nylon or seamless metal resonator). Still on its original factory setup, we'll make sure everything still feels crisp and tight. It will play just like a new horn when you receive it.

The first series of SA80 often gets overlooked, because it wasn't on the market too long. Following the Mark VII, it was Selmer trying to right the ship, and they did a fantastic job, introducing elements that would lead to the popular Series II. It feels very fluid and comfortable under your hands, but sonically, is definitely more open and not as dark as a Series II. Sort of a bridge between the classic vintage Selmers and the modern (very French sounding) horns they make today. This gives you a lot of versatility, allowing you to choose whatever mouthpiece you want and take it in the direction you want to go.
