This is a 1966 vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 134989. This is a great price on such an early vintage Mark VI, and to top it off, this sax has just been completely restored in our repair shop and ships in perfect playing shape.

This tenor was relacquered long ago, as seen in the photos. It shows very little signs of repair though, and has been well cared for over its life. There's a handful of resolders on the lower body keyguards, as is so common, and the bell has been soldered to the bottom bow, but I see no other work, including no dents or dent repair that I can spot. The original neck has the matching serial number. It was had a pick up, which has been removed at sealed with a flush plug. There's also some minor past dent work on the neck, but it has never been pulled down.

This sax was overhauled in our repair shop by Josh Creekmore, using Valentino Pro pads and oversized brown nylon resonators. Material has been replaced using synthetic cork, all springs replaced and tensions properly adjusted, and all key heights have been optimized for intonation and response. It was a full rebuild top to bottom, and the sax feels like a new horn straight from the factory.

I really dig these mid-60's Mark VI tenors. This sax plays with a full sound, not too dark nor too bright, giving the player a lot of room to take your sound in whatever direction you'd like to go. It has a lot of punch too, and cuts well in a loud room. A solid all-around Mark VI that won't break the bank! Ships in a Selmer Vanguard hard case, and is backed by our full one year mechanical warranty.
