HELP, I Want One!

This is a freshly restored 1966 vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone, serial number 136295. This tenor was just overhauled in the Saxquest repair shop by Derick Tramel. It is in perfect playing shape and ready for a new life.

This tenor was relacquered awhile ago, and recently re-engraved in the original “American style” pattern. The end result is a beautiful horn that doesn't look as old as it is! It has been completely restored in our shop, including all new pads and material, using oversized, slightly domed seamless metal resonators to give the sax a little more zest. We did do some dent work in the bottom bow and bottom of body tube areas, but the only evidence of the work is some minor crinkling in the lacquer if you look closely. The work is as clean as you will find. The neck is original to the horn, and while it too had one tiny dent taken out of one side, it doesn't appear to have ever been pulled down or severely damaged before.

For the setup, we went with a medium spring tension and medium-open key height. The action is crisp under your fingers without feeling tight. We want it to be smooth and still feel like a good vintage horn, and Derick adjusted it perfectly.

This is a tenor with a big voice. A really dynamic player that offers the right balance of power and control, it takes your air efficiently and directs it out from the bell. If you are a regular gigging professional and have been dreaming about a Mark VI without breaking the bank, this is one to check out.
