Store Information
This is a 1966 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI bari sax with keywork to low A, serial number 140736. This bari is slotted to receive our full professional overhaul, included in the price, and will come to its next owner in tip-top playing shape.
This horn was relacquered long ago, but done well. While the original American style engraving is lighter for sure, it is still clearly defined and discernible, and wasn't buffed too hard. The sax is in solid shape all around. There's a smattering of dings and dimples in the bottom bow area as well as a couple resolders on some of those lower body keyguards, but all of that will be cleaned up during our overhaul. We'll take all all dents carefully so as to have a minimal effect on the lacquer. The sax has its original neck which is also in great shape, with no previous pulldowns.
This sax will get our full overhaul with all new pads and top shelf material. We'll do the mentioned body work and all of the proper key fitting. Once complete it will feel fluid and even up and down, just like a brand new horn from the factory.
I spent a little time on this horn before it went over to the repair shop, and while it is currently blowing through some leaks, it still has a big presence. I've played many Mark VI baris in this mid-60s era, and they always have a big sound and a full, beefy bottom end. The low A is a real nice on a Mark VI too. Once our work is completed, you'll have a top tier vintage Selmer ready to bring years of enjoyment.
