HELP, I Want One!

This is a cool old 1929 vintage Selmer Paris “New Large Bore” series alto sax, serial number 10254. The precursor the famous Super series of horns, this alto is a fun little player, with a definite warmer quality to its tone, and more of a spread than what you typically find on newer Selmers.

This alto is an old relacquer, but done well as seen in the photos. The stamping is still crisp on the bell with no signs of buffing, and the horn has aged well over the years, showing a beautiful dark patina. Keywork is solid under your fingers. Pads are all in good shape, fitted with flat metal resonators, and the horn will get a fresh pro set up from the Saxquest repair shop before shipping. We'll make sure everything is sealing properly and that all key heights and spring tensions are properly adjusted.

Playing this alto is like stepping back in time. It has a gorgeous, lush characteristic in its tone, and takes your air quickly with a lively response. It's a wonderful example of the early years of the Selmer Paris manufacturing, and its neat to see the directions they took from then till now. Ships in a 60s vintage Selmer Paris (Mark VI style) case.
